Triple distillation is rare at Scottish distilleries, but this Benromach is far from a novelty bottle. The process creates smoother, lighter whiskies and these characteristics are accompanied by delectable aromas of strawberry, sweet vanilla and elderflower. This is followed by creamy malt, lime zest, more vanilla and rich smokiness on the tongue, accompanied by a touch of pepper.

Woodford Reserve’s 2021 Master’s Collection release has finally shown up: Woodford Reserve Five-Malt Stouted Mash, a single malt release that is designed to be “a whiskey that exhibits the flavors of a classic beer.” It’s not made from beer but rather, as the name suggests, five malts mixed up, fermented, and distilled — though I’m unclear what makes it “stouted” aside from the choice of malts.
The spirit of this single malt Scotch whisky was sourced from Caol Ila Distillery before Gordon and MacPhail matured it in its own casks for its new introductory range, Discovery. It was aged for a total of 13 years before being bottled at 43% ABV.
The Discovery Series from Gordon & MacPhail includes a sherry, smoky, and bourbon version to showcase different flavor profiles. Green labels, such as this Tormore, are indicating bourbon matured. The tasting notes include tropical fruits and sweet vanilla, coconut, pineapple, and grapefruit aromas that mingle with freshly cut grass. Notes of baked apple, milk chocolate, and lime flavors with an herbal finish.
Fifteen years maturing in American oak and Spanish oak casks have allowed this bold whisky to embrace the rich, natural elements of Speyside. On the palate there are notes of oranges, toffee, vanilla and leather, all wrapped together with a gentle spice. The long lasting finish has a warming spice which is sweet and creamy.

Paul Pacult upon its debut. A must-try if you can find one of the rare remaining bottles. "The Best Spirit that I’ve Tasted All Year. Five stars." - F. Paul Pacult's Spirit Journal 2014

Rare Cask combines knowledge, skill, passion, commitment and creativity to create a remarkable whisky worthy of its name. Crafted to showcase complexity and depth, Rare Cask is drawn from the broadest spectrum of casks used in maturation on The Macallan Estate. Hand-picked by our whisky making team, the combination of sherry seasoned American and European oak casks - a high proportion of them first fill - deliver an exquisite and unmistakably woody whisky with a rich hue. Incomparable access to the most extensive range of cooperages in Spain gives us some of the finest and scarcest casks to choose from to create Rare Cask, which results in a diversity in the finished whisky unlike other Macallan expression. It is the role of the whisky making team to get to know each and every cask in detail, from how it interacts with the spirit to the spectrum of colours it imparts. This relationship between cask and craftsman, spirit and skill, ultimately give us Rare Cask. With rarity at its core, this is a whisky that will slightly differ in makeup from bottling to bottling; with some casks so rare they will never be used again in any other Macallan. Far less than 1% of casks maturing at the distillery have been identified as fitting to bestow the Rare Cask name – and enable the creation of this multifaceted single malt. Taking inspiration from The Macallan’s iconic triangle and designed to celebrate its natural color, Rare Cask is presented in a sculpted, heavy glass decanter.
The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old forms part of our Triple Cask Matured range; a series of single malt whiskies crafted in a triple cask combination of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. This complex combination of oak casks delivers an extraordinarily smooth and delicate character, full of citrus fruits, vanilla and fresh oak.
From a Distillery with more ups and downs than a pogoing punk comes Ardcore. Created with roasted black malt, roasted to the extreme, this spirit is all about what happens up front ¬¬– centre stage. The malt is what defines its distinctive profile. Described as tasting like ‘biting on a spiky ball’, Ardcore is a dram that wears its heart on its sleeve… its black heart!
The sixth and final release in the The Macallan Edition series, Edition No. 6 takes its inspiration from the natural wonders of the legendary River Spey and The Macallan Estate, where each and every cask of The Macallan is matured before being hand-selected for use by our expert whisky makers. All of the five distinct casks types used to create Edition No. 6 have been hand-picked by The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner. He drew inspiration from unique stories related to the river and surrounding landscape. The American and European oak casks have been selected to create a flavour profile that will deliver a multifaceted experience; from the appealing rich brass natural colour, to the layers of aroma, followed by the deep and rewarding flavour.
The Macallan Fine Oak 15 Years Old forms part of the Fine Oak range and is matured for a minimum of fifteen years in three exceptional oak cask types. This complex combination of casks delivers a rich flavor profile with notes of chocolate, dried fruits and cinnamon.
