Jack Daniel’s is known for being a well-crafted, smooth sippin’ Tennessee Whiskey. You don’t last for over 150 years if you’re not a quality product, after all. We’ve become known for something else along the way too: our iconic black and white label. But what people may not know is that the history of our label wasn’t always so black and white.     Some time before 1904 our bottles were a rather unexpected shade of green with an eye-catching gold trim. And as unusual as that may seem, it’s just one of the many labels in Old No. 7’s past. You have to be patient to make whiskey, and it seems that Jack took his time landing on the tried-and-true black label we know today. This is the first in our series of Legacy Edition Bottles. Each label we release will celebrate the unique, slightly mysterious history of Old No. 7.

From the Andalusia province of Spain, a luscious dessert wine is produced from the shriveled raisins of the Pedro Ximenez (PX) grape. This highly viscous, syrupy, wine is aged in ancient solera barrels for decades before release. We acquired a selection of retired PX barrels from a solera hundreds of years old and filled them with our rich and spicy Bourbon Whiskey. Left to bask in these ripe, fruity vessels, our Whiskey emerged with complex layers of fig compote, orange marmalade, and licorice to complement the sweet oak and vanilla character of our world-renowned Bourbon Whiskey.

Infusions Pineapple is a lively, juicy tropical explosion of luscious pineapple fruit notes with hints of complex Valencia orange and citrus peel, creating a fantastic finish layered with exotic sweetness.

This medium-full bodied Bourbon has a bouquet of vanilla, caramel and cherry. The spicy kick of a high rye content is balanced by sweet, smooth corn and the unmistakably silky viscosity of organic Washington soft white winter wheat. Matured in 53-gallon barrels, this meticulously handcrafted six to eight-year Bourbon displays notes of brown sugar and maple syrup without the woody harshness that can result from extended micro-barreling. Its mellow tannins and complex layers unfold into a finish of buttery oak, toffee and again the brightness of fresh cherries.

Bulleit Bourbon is inspired by the whiskey that was pioneered by Augustus Bulleit over 150 years ago. This bourbon uses a higher proportion of rye than most, proprietary yeast strains and single story warehouses – all of which contribute to the uniqueness of the bourbon.

Our Apothic Merlot reveals depths of black cherry, boysenberry and wild blueberries with subtle hints of vanilla and coconut. To add dimension to the wine, we added a touch of a unique grape called Teroldego, which marries well with the Merlot to create plush tannins and a long, lasting finish. Most of the fruit for this Merlot was sourced from Lodi, with some originating from a vineyard near Brentwood. We selected Merlot grapes for their dark fruit intensity and generous tannins to create a velvety mouthfeel. Portions of this wine were oak-aged for 3-4 months to preserve elegant fruit characteristics.

Medium slightly oily body, sweet with slightly astringent follow on the palate, oak, cocoa then pepper developing and causing the tongue to tingle around the edges pleasantly. Nice mixture of light fruits and medium dry finish with tingling rye on the tongue.
